With all the uncertainty going on in our world this year, I have started focusing a lot more on myself and my well being. I have never been one to make goals for myself, however being in quarantine during the Covid-19 crisis has me really wanting to be the best version of myself. Not only have I been coding nonstop. I have also been consistently eating healthier and working out. Although we are already half way through April, I firmly believe that it is never to late to make goals for yourself. Here are a few that I want accomplish by the end of 2020.
1) Land a job as a Junior Developer — I aim to make the full transition to the technology industry in a role that I enjoy and plays to my strengths. My time at Flatiron School is coming to an end in the next couple of days, however I am extremely excited about what the future holds
2) Read 50 books — I’ve been reading about one book per week over the past year and aim to continue this trend. It is amazing how much one can learn and expand their view of the world by committing to reading. For instance, I would have never thought I’d be getting myself into technology but all that I have learned has opened my mind to new experiences and given me the ability to chase new dreams.
3) Write 50 articles — I have always loved the creative process of writing which is why I chose communication as one of my majors in college. I want to get back into that flow so that I can share my thoughts and ideas with others while building a personal brand online. It is necessary in the digital age to be able to effectively communicate and establish a leadership presence online. It will take some time to develop my voice and writing niche, but I hope that writing one article per week will accomplish just that.
4) Learn 25 songs on the guitar — I’ve always loved music and grew up playing the guitar. However, it’s been awhile since I’ve really gotten into it. It is important to me to have a hobby that I truly enjoy and can share with others. I will attempt to practice for at least thirty minutes every night learning rock songs and music theory.
I plan to accomplish each of these four goals by the end of the year and will write periodic updates on my progress. If you have any personal goals for yourself or thoughts on mine, please let me know!
